Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired blue-eyed woman with an exuberant personality. She was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra to Susan (Duggan) who was she was an English teacher and a former actor. Harry Hyra was a math teacher. She is of Ruthenian, Polish, Irish, and German heritage ("Hyra" is an Irish and Ruthenian surname, and "Ryan" is her maternal grandmother's maiden name). Meg graduated in June 1979 from Bethel highschool, Bethel. In the fall of 1979, she relocated to New York, she attended New York University where she majored in journalism. Meg Ryan was her name change, started acting in order to earn money while she was completing her studies. In the year 1981, she had her big screen debut . She made the role of Candice Bergen's daughter in George Cukor's final film Rich and Famous (1981). She was chosen for the character of Betsy in the television soap as the World Turns (1956) after she was able to audition. The show starred her from 1982 until 1984. Meg was also participant in the television show One of the Boys (1982) and was ended. In 1984, Meg relocated to Hollywood, and was offered a job with the western television Series Wildside (1985). Meg had a small role in Top Gun (1986), which led to her being cast in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987), where she starred alongside Dennis Quaid. In D.O.A.'s remake, she once again played alongside Dennis Quaid. (1988) and was married on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. Meg was in 1989's When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the restaurant scene became famous. Meg was nominated for the Golden Globe as well as the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. She was back with Tom in the highly successful Sleepless in Seattle (1993) for which she was again nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg determined to stand out from the crowd in 1994 by playing the character of Meg as a mother and wife who is alcoholic in When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). Then, she went back to "cute" with both I.Q. (1994) as well as French Kiss (1996). In 1994, Meg won the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award for being "Woman of the Year" and was also voted as being one of "The 50 most beautiful women in the world 1994" by People Magazine.
